Destination Details

Cochin

Cochin or Kochi, as it is called now is situated on the west coast of India in the beautiful greenish state of Kerala. Cochin has long been eulogised in tourist literature as the ‘Queen of the Arabian Sea’. This simple heckneyed phrase reflects the beauty and long-standing maritime importance. The city is basically a collection of islands and narrow peninsulas and can be mainly divided in to Ernakulam, Willington Island, Mattancherry and Fort Cochin, which spreads around 87sq.kms. Ernakulam is the business centre and forms the main land. It is separated from the Fort Cochin and Mattancherry by the river Periyar that flows down to the Arabian Sea. Cochin has the finest natural harbors in the world around which the city has grown.

Kumarakom

Kumarakom is a tourist village in Kottayam district, Kerala. It is an unbelievably beautiful paradise of mangrove forests, emerald green paddy fields and coconut groves interspersed with enchanting waterways and canals adorned with white lilies. It is a cluster of little islands on the Vembanad Lake in Kerala, with a collection of branched bodies all lined by beautiful, thick, lush and peaceful greenery. A large number of coconut trees line the horizon to add the perfect tropical touch to the landscape.

Alleppey

A slice of Venice in the heart of Kerala, Alleppey is a mix of shady streets set around a grid of canals spilling into the vast watery highways of the region. The most popular place to organise a foray into the backwaters, this is the base for most of the houseboat-action in Kerala, and home to the famous Nehru Trophy Snake Boat Race. It’s worth stopping in Alleppey to soak in some tropical village life before making a beeline for the backwaters.

Munnar

Munnar hills is siatuated at an altitude of 5000 to 8000 Ft above sea level. and is situated at the confluence of three mountain streams - Mudrapuzha, Nallathani & Kundala. This beautiful hill station was once the summer resort of the erstwhile British Government in South India. Sprawling Tea plantations, picture book towns, winding lanes, and holiday facilities make this a popular resort town.

Thekkady

Thekkady is a nature lover's delight of unending chains of hills and spice scented plantations. Thekkady, with its unspoilt tropical forests and incredible wealth of animal and plant life is a naturalist’s paradise. The journey to Thekkady takes you through quaint little hill towns and softly contoured hill slopes surrounded by plantations of tea, coffee and spices like cardamom and pepper. Thekkady is well known for the Periyar National Park and elephants are the major attractions here. The climate in Thekkady is cool and pleasant in summers.
